From Climate Week to Daily Action: Regenerative Living in Nosara, Costa Rica
A Week to Remember What Truly Matters
Every September Climate Week reminds us that the Earth is calling. From New York to Costa Rica, leaders, organizations, and communities gather to ask how we can step into responsibility rather than fear. In New York alone, more than 900 events unfold each year, all dedicated to one truth: climate action can no longer wait.
This year, our Founder, Matthew Blesso, is attending events in New York, bringing Shift Esperanza, our regenerative community in Nosara, Costa Rica, into the global conversation. We’re connecting with those who share a vision for regeneration and sustainable living.
It is easy to feel overwhelmed by statistics, fires, floods, and melting glaciers. Yet Climate Week also reminds us of the other side of the story: people, projects, and how communities in Costa Rica and beyond are proving that another way of living is not only possible but already here.
Our Commitment in Nosara, Costa Rica
At Shift Esperanza, our response is rooted in place. We made a conscious choice to preserve 75 percent of our land so that forests, water, and wildlife remain untouched—breathing life into the community and beyond. Preservation is not just a slogan for us, it is a daily practice guiding how the project grows and how the land is honored.
We also dedicate 10 percent of our profits to local impact initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of this sustainable community in Costa Rica flow back into the people and ecosystems that sustain it. One of our proudest partnerships is with Costas Verdes, a Costa Rican nonprofit that has restored hundreds of hectares of coastal forest and planted more than 750,000 trees. Supporting their work multiplies our impact, linking our vision with a proven track record of regeneration.
Homes That Regenerate
Beyond preservation and philanthropy, we believe that even the way we build must transform. Every home at Shift Esperanza is designed with regeneration in mind. That means:
Careful orientation to reduce energy use.
Water systems that recycle and harvest rainwater.
Materials that respect the land.
Why Climate Week Matters to Us
Climate Week is not only about conferences and commitments on distant stages. It is about communities like ours aligning daily lives with the planet’s well-being. It is about showing that real estate can regenerate, that architecture can heal, and that investments can create legacies of renewal rather than extraction.
Shift Esperanza is our contribution to this global movement:
A model that preserves more than it consumes
Building homes that give back to the land
A regenerative development in Nosara where ecosystems are restored alongside community growth
